  8. How do I update my Hermes BBS?

  14. This application will convert the .db files from the BBS in a Box CD as well
  15. as other CDs to Hermes II v3.x data files.  Once you create the data files
  16. all you need to do is create Hermes transfer directories with EXACTLY the
  17. same names and drop the data files in the Area folder where the corresponding
  18. directories are located.
  19.  
  20. We have created hermes directories for you on this CD but here is info as
  21. to how it is done unless you want to create your own.
  22.  
  23. 1.  Launch BBIAB Convertor v1.1. (located in CD Setup:Hermes)
  24. 2.  Click on "Add" and select a .db file you want to convert.
  25. 3.  Repeat above until all .db files are selected.
  26. 4.  Select "Convert".
  27. 5.  Set the folder to hold the files that will be created.
  28. 6.  Click the "Select" button to start the conversion.
  29. 7.  Quit BBIAB Convertor v1.1.
  30. 8.  Create new transfer directories in Hermes II v3.x.
  31. 9.  Put the data files you just created inside the appropriate Area folder.

  36. The conversion will be faster if you move the .db files to your hard drive.
  37.  
  38. If you do NOT want the .sit, .cpt, .sea suffixes on the filenames, click
  39. on the the appropriate box before converting the .db files.

  41. If you will be moving the actual files from the CD ROM to the appropriate
  42. Hermes II v3.x transfer folders, click on the "Strip CD ROM Pathname" box
  43. before converting the .db files.  This will strip the "individual file
  44. pathname" from the .db files.

  46. You can rename the data files created to any name you want, so long as the Hermes directory name is exactly the same as the data file.

  48. You must set the filename length in Hermes to the same value as the BBIAB
  49. Convertor so the descriptions are the right length.
